CWA/AT&T Midwest Bargaining Report #3

March 9, 2018

Fighting Today…Focused on the Future!

This morning the Union presented the Company with proposals on Article 15 (Job Classifications and Promotions), Article 24 (Automobile Mileage Expense), Appendix A16 (Labor Advisory Forum) and Appendix A34 (Payment in Lieu of Vacation). The Company presented proposals on Article 1 (Recognition), Article 3 (Non-Discrimination), Article 6 (Agency Shop), Article 8 (Collective Bargaining Procedures), Article 28 (Safety), Appendix A8 (Safety Advisory Council), and A Letter Outside the Contract regarding a Single Bargaining Unit.

Your bargaining committee also shared a story with the company’s committee from a member that was communicated to us, about how important the Employment Security Commitment is to her. The member stated that all she wants to do is find a permanent position so that she can go to work and not live in a state of limbo. We reiterated to the company that people do not want to “sit” on ESC and collect a paycheck, as they claimed on opening day. CWA members want good, permanent jobs!

This afternoon the Benefits Subcommittee met with the company to continue discussions around health care and pensions. The Appendix F subcommittee met and devised an extensive data request to present to the company that will help us better understand the issues that we are confronting. The full committee met later in the afternoon and reached tentative agreements on Article 6 (Agency Shop) and Article 9(Bulletin Boards). The Union also made a counterproposal on Article 3 (Non-Discrimination).

In Solidarity,

Your CWA District 4 Bargaining Team
