CWA/AT&T Midwest Bargaining Report #2

March 8, 2018

Fighting Today…Focused on the Future!

Yesterday the company passed retrogressive proposals regarding health care and pensions. They also proposed removing Article 27 (Operator Services) and other language associated with Article 27.  CWA District 4 Assistant to the Vice President and Bargaining Chair, Curt Hess, and your elected committee, later reviewed these proposals and worked on Union proposals and counterproposals for future sessions.

This morning the company passed proposals involving Appendix G (Global Services) and aspects of the proposals were discussed at the table. We then passed proposals on Articles 4 (Responsible Company Union Relationship), 6 (Agency Shop), 7 (Union Deductions from Wages), 8 (Collective Bargaining Procedures) and 9 (Bulletin Boards).  In the afternoon, our Appendix F subcommittee (Tim Strong, Dan Frazier, Greg Tennyson and District 4 Staff Representative, Ron Gay) met with company representatives to begin discussions on work of the future, job security, and many other issues relating to the appendix. Our Benefits subcommittee (Tina Culver, Kim Gallardo, Jay Walther and District 4 Staff Representative, Mike Handley) met separately to continue going over the company’s proposal on health care and pensions.

On a separate note, we’d like to thank all the Local Officers and their members for their strong show of support on March 6th   through your mobilization activities.  A sound and continued show of unity is just what we need to make this company understand that we mean business!
