Informal talks took place at AT&T Midwest after our Committee presented the Company with our economic proposal yesterday.

“Informal talks” means a more free flowing discussion of concepts in small groups from both sides, rather than exchanging written proposals back and forth with the full committees (that would be “formal talks”). The most difficult problems in negotiations are often solved by discussing them informally first to get close in concept, then moving to formal written proposals to nail down the details.
